Matcha
1. What is matcha?
Matcha is a green tea powder obtained by separating green tea leaves grown using the shading method from their veins and stems after harvest, and then finely grinding them in stone mills. Since the entire tea leaf is consumed in matcha, it contains more concentrated nutritional values compared to classic green tea.
2. Is matcha beneficial?
Thanks to its antioxidant, natural caffeine, and L-theanine content, matcha helps with focus and provides balanced energy throughout the day. When consumed in moderation, it is a beverage that supports both mental and physical well-being.
3. What does Matcha taste like?
A good quality matcha has soft, balanced, and subtly umami notes. An overly bitter or astringent
taste is often indicative of low-quality matcha. Kinocha matcha has a taste profile that is low in bitterness and smooth to drink. Just like Kinocha Matcha…
4. Are matcha and green tea the same?
Both are obtained from the green tea plant; however, their preparation and consumption methods differ. While green tea is consumed by brewing, matcha is consumed by drinking the entire tea leaf in powder form. This makes matcha richer in terms of nutritional value.
5. Is matcha a coffee alternative?
Yes, for many, matcha is a good alternative to coffee. The caffeine in matcha, combined with L-theanine, provides energy more smoothly and consistently; it doesn't cause the sudden highs and lows that coffee does.
6. I've never tried matcha before, what if I don't like it?
When you first try matcha, it's quite normal for the taste to not seem right for you. Kinocha offers a softer and more balanced drink, especially for those trying matcha for the first time. Consuming it as a latte initially, or adding natural sweeteners like honey or agave syrup, can make the experience more enjoyable.
Just as you might not have immediately gotten used to the taste of unsweetened and black coffee the first time you drank it, a similar process can happen with matcha. Matcha is a taste that grows on you over time. 😊
7. Is matcha high in caffeine?
If made from high-quality leaves and prepared in a concentrated manner, the caffeine content in an average serving of matcha is the same as in a cup of coffee. The effect of the caffeine provided by matcha is longer-lasting and more balanced due to its L-theanine content.
8. What is L-theanine?
L-theanine is an amino acid naturally found in the tea plant. It works with caffeine to help create a calmer, more focused feeling. This is why matcha is known for providing a “balanced energy.”
9. What is an antioxidant? What kind of antioxidants are found in Matcha?
Antioxidants are compounds that help protect the body against cellular damage that can be caused by free radicals. Matcha is particularly rich in catechins (EGCG), which makes it among the most antioxidant-rich teas.
10. How do I know I'm drinking quality matcha?
Quality matcha;
• Is vibrant and bright green
• Has a silky powder texture
• Does not leave a bitter or "henna-like" taste; it has a balanced and smooth flavor
• Forms a smooth froth when prepared with hot, non-boiling water
Kinocha matcha meets these criteria, offering a carefully selected, balanced, and refined drinking experience. We are confident in this. 😊
11. Who is matcha not suitable for?
Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, or individuals sensitive to caffeine are advised to consult a professional before consuming matcha. Daily balanced consumption is suitable for most people.
